Now that the Christmas season is in full swing, we thought it would be a good time to share some interesting facts you might not know about Christmas at the Library.
At a ceremony in Washington, D.C., on Dec. 6, 2001, Billy Graham received an honorary knighthood from Sir Christopher Meyer, the British Ambassador to the U.S., on behalf of Queen Elizabeth II.
Each year when Christmas at the Library ends, we begin preparing for the following year. So, to say we have been looking forward to this day for a long time is an understatement. As you look forward to celebrating this special time of year and perhaps joining us one evening at Christmas at the Library, here are a few things to help you prepare. These are especially handy tips for our friends who will join us for the first time.
It’s almost here! Christmas at The Library begins on Dec. 1 and runs through Dec. 22. A number of things many of you have enjoyed in previous years will be available again this year, but there are some new things as well.
This week, Billy Graham celebrated his 94th birthday! Many visitors stopped by the Library to sign a special birthday banner. Those well-wishes will be shared with Mr. Graham at his home in Montreat, NC.
For Rosemary Moore, playing Mary in Christmas at the Library’s live nativity is tradition. As part of the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team, she and several co-workers use the volunteer opportunity for team building. It’s also a fun, unique way to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas. Rosemary’s favorite part is seeing children’s faces as they peek over the wood fence to spot baby Jesus or pet the animals.
This Saturday from 10 – 11 a.m., Bobby Richardson, former second baseman for the New York Yankees and World Series MVP, will be at the Library to sign copies of his new book Impact Player.
