Programs and events at the Billy Graham Library include everything from formal banquets to evangelism trainings and large outdoor events such as Bikers With Boxes. If you are interested in serving on a more flexible schedule, join the Billy Graham Library Service Team! Service Team Volunteers have the opportunity to interact with guests, offer directions, assist with registration, serve food, distribute gifts, and much more. We ask Service Team Volunteers to commit to serve for at least 7 programs a year and agree to at least a year commitment.

• What do Service Team Volunteers do?
  Service Team Volunteers must be able to serve in a variety of positions including but not limited to the following: (Note: Each event is unique and may require other positions.)

  • Preparation Assistant: Assist with set-up or preparation of event materials.
  • Greeter/Host: Open doors as guests approach. Greet warmly.
  • Registration Assistant: Check in guests via our registration platform.
  • Event Guide: Stand at an assigned location and direct guests to the bathrooms, dining hall, exit, book signing, etc.
  • Beverage Station Assistant: Help guests (if needed) at the beverage station and use your discretion to help attendees with their drinks at the table.
  • Runner/Floater: Help where needed. May be required to do multiple positions throughout the course of the event.
  • Giveaway Table Assistant: Hand out giveaways, flyers, etc., at the end of the event.
  • Seating Usher: As guests enter, assist with seating and directing guests to tables.
  • Buffet Assistant: Helping the catering team behind the buffet, or helping guests with their plates.
  • Prayer Leader: Be available to pray with guests in the prayer response area at the end of the event. Also, be ready to answer questions and guide guests through the Steps to Peace with God and other counseling materials in case they want to dedicate/rededicate their life to Christ.
  • Photo Booth Assistant: Encourage guests to take photos at the photo booth and then offer to take their photos.
• What are the different shifts (times) available to serve?

  Times fluctuate depending on event scheduling.

• What are the requirements?
  • You must have a Christian testimony.
  • You must be 16 years of age or older.
  • You must reside in Charlotte, NC, or the surrounding area.
  • You must visit the Library and go on the Journey of Faith tour.
  • You must complete an interview and background check.
  • You must provide a pastoral and two general references.
  • You must sign the Volunteer Agreement.
  • You must agree with BGEA’s Statement of Faith and Code of Conduct.
  • You must attend training and complete the Christian Life and Witness Course.
  • You must be able to provide your own transportation to and from the Library.
  • You must be able to stand for extended periods of time (with breaks).
• What is the process to become a volunteer?
  • The selection process begins with various reference checks, a criminal background check, and a one-hour interview.
  • Once accepted, volunteers attend training.
• How do I start the process?

  Begin by completing the volunteer application form. Please read our Statement of Faith and Volunteer Requirements before you apply.

• What happens after I complete the application?
  • We will contact you to schedule an interview.
  • If we determine you are a good fit for our volunteer ministry, we will send you an invitation to our next on-site training here at the Library.
• What will I wear?
  • The Billy Graham Library provides a logoed vest.
  • You provide a white collared short-sleeve or long sleeve shirt, black pants and comfortable shoes.
  • Please note that depending on the event, the uniform may change. In these situations, you will be notified in advance.
