From the Perspective of our Volunteers

As Christmas at the Library enters its final weekend, we are blessed to share with you the perspectives of some of our volunteers. Without them, Christmas at the Library wouldn’t be possible. It takes hundreds of volunteers to make this event happen, and to them, we all say “thank you.” If you haven’t been to see them in action, we hope you come out tonight or tomorrow night.

Elvis, SpongeBob and James Brown at The Library?

On a busy night in December, about 800 people will take a horse-drawn carriage ride around the Billy Graham Library. They take one of 10 Victorian-style carriages pulled by horses with names like Elvis, SpongeBob and James Brown.

“CHRISTmas hasn’t been lost”

When I heard about volunteering for Christmas at the Library, my top choice was story time. What better way to spend an evening than reading Christmas stories to a wiggly but intrigued bunch of small children? What I didn’t count on was how much I would be inspired by them.

The Christmas Ride of their Lives

Why does this couple volunteer to serve at Christmas at the Library’s carriage rides? “Christmas is a time to be able to share our Savior’s love and birth and happiness.”

Christmas at The Library – It’s Finally Here!

As you look forward to celebrating this special time of year and perhaps joining us one evening at Christmas at the Library, here are a few things to help you prepare. These are especially handy tips for our friends who will join us for the first time.

Christmas at The Library Preview

It’s almost here! Christmas at The Library begins on Dec. 1 and runs through Dec. 22. A number of things many of you have enjoyed in previous years will be available again this year, but there are some new things as well.

Don’t Miss a ‘Tremendous Blessing’

For Rosemary Moore, playing Mary in Christmas at the Library’s live nativity is tradition. As part of the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team, she and several co-workers use the volunteer opportunity for team building. It’s also a fun, unique way to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas. Rosemary’s favorite part is seeing children’s faces as they peek over the wood fence to spot baby Jesus or pet the animals.

Bikers with Boxes: October 20

This charity ride to the Billy Graham Library will take place on Saturday, October 20. Ride alone, with your club, or meet up with one of the groups around the region who are riding together. Last year, big-hearted bikers brought more than 1,000 shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child.
