Throughout her entire life, from her childhood in China to her years as a wife and mother in Montreat, North Carolina, Ruth wrote, drew and scrapbooked. Author Jan Karon said of Ruth’s poetry, “One of the things I love about her poetry is that it is so visual. She can take me out of doors just like that.”
