Grief is hard to understand. Some days it is hard to make it through and other days life can feel like it’s getting back to normal again. Navigating loss is a difficult journey. Wherever you may be in this process, be encouraged by these five promises from Scripture. And never forget the words that Billy Graham regularly declared: “God loves you.”

Read 5 things the Bible says about grief:

The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.

Psalm 34:18

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Matthew 11:28-30

Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

Romans 5:3-5

Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

1 Peter 5:10

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

John 14:27
