Here are five fascinating facts about this historic home.
1. The Homeplace was built in 1927
Billy Graham’s father, William Franklin Graham Sr., built the two-story brick Colonial home in 1927 for approximately $9,000. Originally located on Park Road in Charlotte, North Carolina, the house stood on the family’s dairy farm and became home to Billy, his parents and his three siblings.

2. Billy Graham grew up on a dairy farm
The Graham family operated a dairy farm with more than 70 cows. Growing up, Billy learned the value of hard work through daily farm chores. His childhood on the farm helped shape the discipline and character that would follow him throughout his ministry.
3. The house was moved twice
After the Graham family no longer occupied the home, it was carefully dismantled and relocated to South Carolina. Years later, Billy’s nephew Mel Graham helped bring it back to Charlotte, where it was reconstructed at the Billy Graham Library in 2006.
4. Much of the home is original
Much of the home’s original building materials were preserved, including thousands of bricks and the first-floor hardwood flooring. Visitors can also see family artifacts, including Morrow Graham’s typewriter and dairy farm logbook.
