Today would have been Billy Graham’s 108th birthday. He dedicated his life to proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ, spending much of his 99 years on earth sharing the Good News in person and through every means available to him. Even though it has been nearly nine years since the Lord called him home in 2018, we still hear from people whose lives were changed by his preaching.

Will Graham—Billy Graham’s grandson—recently shared the Good News in Wilmington, Delaware, during the Declaration of Dependence Tour. After the event, Melinda* told us that Will was the third generation of Grahams she had heard preach. She and her husband gave their lives to Jesus Christ during a Billy Graham Crusade. Years later, Melinda took her sister to a Franklin Graham Festival, where she made the same decision to follow Christ.

Cheryl,* who also attended the Declaration of Dependence Tour, had a similar story. She was just 10 when she joined her mom and three siblings at Billy Graham’s 1957 Crusade at Madison Square Garden in New York City. As Mr. Graham preached, the Holy Spirit worked. First her mom walked forward to receive Jesus Christ in repentance and faith—and then each of the four children made the same decision. Their family was changed forever.

Even beyond these generational legacies, Billy Graham’s messages are still reaching people where they are today. We frequently see comments like these under his Classic sermons on YouTube:

“I’m watching and I made a commitment to give my life to Jesus …”

“I accept you Lord and trust in you …”

When Billy Graham was 74, he was asked about his legacy during an appearance on “Good Morning America” on ABC. “I want to be remembered as a person that was faithful to God, and faithful to my family, and faithful to my calling,” he said. Billy Graham demonstrated that faithfulness through his unrelenting commitment to Gospel proclamation. Today, his legacy lives on in the lives of millions who have come to know Jesus Christ through his preaching and those who hear his story through The Journey of Faith tour at the Billy Graham Library.
