Remembering George Beverly Shea

It’s been a year since God called home his faithful servant, George Beverly Shea. Although his voice can no longer be heard, his song carries on proclaiming the “the Story of Jesus and His love” that Bev delighted in.

In George Beverly Shea’s book, “How Sweet the Sound,” Billy Graham shared this note:

“The title of Bev’s song ‘The Wonder of It All’ is a declaration of the very essence of Bev’s faith – a heart overwhelmed by the grace and majesty of God.”

Today, as we remember George Beverly Shea we hope you enjoy these words from his song.

The Wonder of It All

There’s the wonder of sunset at evening,
The wonder of sunrise I see;
But the wonder of wonders that thrills my soul
Is the wonder that God loves me.

O the wonder of it all!
The wonder of it all!
Just to think that God loves me.

O the wonder of it all!
The wonder of it all!
Just to think that God loves me.

There’s the wonder of springtime and harvest,
The sky, the stars, the sun;
But the wonder of wonders that thrills my soul
Is a wonder that’s only begun.

    i draw a lot from Pastor Evangelist Billy Graham’s sermons. thanks to all who stand together in the minstry to serve and reach out to God’s people. Rest in Peace

  4. When I feel discouraged, hurt, or lonely I listen to Mr. Shea on a CD. No music brings me into the presence of a loving living God more than this man singing praises to our Lord. His smooth voice and the words of the songs guide me to relinquish my fears and surrender to what God is doing in my life. The result is peace of mind and rest in Jesus.
    Thank you Lord and Billy Graham for introducing us to this voice and the spiritual man, George Beverly Shea. He used his gift to glorify God and what a gift he had. Yes, God is good and His love never fails.
    I have watched Billy Graham Crusades on TV for 50 years and seen Mr. Graham 2 times in CA at Fresno and Sacramento.

    George Beverley Shea may have gone to glory but his ministry remains. I heard him sing back in the 50’s and his sincerity and passion transcended denomination and propelled people into worship and wonder. His voice still moves me to tears of joy and appreciation as they did at the beginning of my Christian life. PTL

    What a blessing Bev Shea was to millions over the years. I heard him sing this song at Houghton College about 1970, when I was student there.
    We thank the Lord for his life and ministry.

    I worked at BGEA in Minneapolis in the late 60’s and into the 70’s At one of our Christmas parties, Billy Graham spoke, Bev Shea sang, and Cliff Barrows directed us in singing some Christmas songs. It was a time I will never forget!!!!
    I have a number of records by Bev that I will always love. One of them is “Acres of Diamonds, Mountains of Gold, Rivers of Silver, Jewels Untold….”
    THANKS, BILLY!!!!!!!!!!!

    I was trying to find some of the songs that George B Shea sang during his ministry. I would like to purchase some from the Library, or maybe you can direct me to a better source. I reference the Library because my brother keeps asking me to look and see what I can find there. I don’t understand why he thinks of this source as being better or maybe more original. Waiting for your answer, and thanks for your help.
