Q Victoria Deviney: Hi Shelia! I’m coming along with three more of us to hear you on the 16th! My question is “looking back on your life, what would be Pivotal point in your journey with the Lord?

A Hi Victoria, I gave my life to Christ as a young girl of 11 years of age but it was as a woman in my early thirties at the lowest point of my life than I encountered Christ in a fresh, life-changing way. I spent so much of my life trying to be the perfect Christian, trying to be worthy of God’s love. When I ended up in a psychiatric hospital, diagnosed with severe clinical depression I began to understand that God loves me based on nothing I bring to the table. It became crystal clear to me that I am not the good news-Jesus is!

Q Uko-obio Uko-obio: My question is, with the way worldly lifestyle is creeping into the churches nowadays; what’s your say?

A Hello! Thank you for your question. I think the greatest calling on the life of any believer is to live a life worthy of the calling of Christ. When Peter wrote his first letter he said, “But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled, but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame

1 Peter 3:14-16 (ESV) What that says to me is that each one of us should live a life that would raise questions…why are you so at peace when the world is in chaos, why are you full of joy when so many others are full of fear? It’s easy to judge our brothers and sisters but I believe living a life of radical love and faith is more compelling.

Q Donna Carver: What single moment in your life brought you to believe in Jesus Christ?

A Hi Donna! My father died when I was five years old in a very tragic way. Over the next few years I watched the way my mom lived her life, trusting god even in the darkest days. It was her faith that brought me into the arms of Jesus when I was 11 years old.

Q @sheilaclark13: Hello Sheila, another Sheila here. Thank you for taking questions. My question is have you ever felt alone during a very difficult time?

A Hey Sheila! There have been moments in life when I’ve felt very alone but in those times I’ve been even more aware of the love and presence of Christ. I love these words of the psalmist, David, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18 (NIV)

Q @brittjohns: Sheila, have you ever attended a Billy Graham crusade in the past? If so, what does that experience mean to you? If not, do you have another favorite memory of Rev Graham?

A Hey! Yes, it’s been my privilege to sing at several of Dr. Graham’s crusades. I have always been so blessed by the whole team who love each other and have worked together for so many years. I remember one night in England when we were about to move onto the platform and George Beverly Shea asked me if I needed to use the restroom before we went out. I told him that I was fine but he said, “It’s cold out there. I think you should go…just think of it as an insurance policy!” I remember interviewing Dr. Graham on his 70th birthday and asking him if he ever though of retirement. He told me that he could see no scriptural precedence for retirement but that he would serve God as long as he has breath. What a man of God.
