New Year’s Resolutions, Graham Style

As the start of a new year approaches, if you are like most people, you will probably spend some time evaluating your life and making resolutions. To give you some inspiration, here are some words from Billy and Ruth Graham.

“Make it your goal to build strong foundations for your life — foundations constructed from prayer and the truths of God’s Word.” – Billy Graham

“Christians should seek after holiness—without which no man shall see the Lord. Let us seek ardently the kind of life that reflects the beauty of Jesus and marks us as being what saints ought to be.” – Billy Graham

“Learn from your disappointments and failures and with God’s help seek to overcome them. Ask yourself … Were my hopes and dreams unrealistic, or were my motives wrong? Is there a new path God wants me to explore?” – Billy Graham

“There are those today that say we must do as others do, that we must conform to the world …that we must swim with the tide, that we must move with the crowd. But the believer should say, ‘No!’” – Billy Graham

“There are times as Christians when we, for some reason, lose sight of our target, which is to glorify the Lord. Tears blur our vision. Unexpected tragedy raises questions that cannot be answered and shakes our faith to its foundations. Then we must remember that our position is ‘in Christ.’ Though we may not see the target, if we just ‘remember our position,’ we won’t miss.” – Ruth Bell Graham

“[As a young man] I sought thrills. I found them in Christ. I looked for something that would bring perfect joy! I found it in Christ. I looked for something that would bring pleasure and that would satisfy the deepest longing of my heart! I found it in Christ. And my life has never been the same.” – Billy Graham

We pray that 2012 will be blessed and filled with good things for all of you!

All quotes from Billy Graham are from “Billy Graham in Quotes.”  Ruth’s quote is from “Letters from Ruth’s Attic.”

  2. Peter Temple says:

The picture of the race track reminds of what life is and what the writer of the Hebrews, in God’s Word calls us to do. Chapter 12:1c-3 begin Let us run with patience the race that is set before us. Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith…joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame…set down at the right hand… of God. Consider Him who endured such contradiction of sinners…lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.
