Franklin, Will and Bessie’s Picks—April 2023

April 6, 2023

Each month, Franklin and Will Graham pick books based on its inspirational message, while Bessie picks a book for children to enjoy.

Franklin’s Pick: The Resurrected Jesus by David Limbaugh and Christen Limbaugh Bloom

In the fifth and final installment of his bestselling Jesus series, David Limbaugh digs into the New Testament epistles with passion and imagination, showing that the testimony of Jesus’ earliest followers provides irrefutable proof of His resurrection.

Inspired by God and penned by the apostles, the epistles were written to the first Christians to proclaim the divinity of Christ and to encourage them to persevere through persecution, famine, sickness, and doubt.

On a lawyerly quest for truth, Limbaugh looks behind these biblical texts, exploring the lives of their authors, who included some of those closest to the Lord—his most intimate friends, Peter and John, and his own kinsmen James and Jude. The result is an unforgettable encounter with Jesus.

The Resurrected Jesus speaks to the struggles the church faces today, strengthening believers and challenging doubters with the eyewitness accounts of the messengers who travelled far and wide to proclaim the resurrected Christ.

Will’s Pick: The Red Sea Rules by Robert J. Morgan

Bestselling author Robert Morgan offers ten strategies for dealing with hard times and discouragements in order to move from fear to faith—a divine protocol for handling life. Red Sea Rules has been updated with new study questions.

Life is hard, especially for Christians. It is certain that we will face difficulties and that God will allow them. But just as certain is the fact that the same God who led us in will lead us out. As The Red Sea Rules makes comfortingly clear, He is in control.

Using the Israelites’ story in Exodus 14 as an example, Robert Morgan offers ten sound strategies for moving from fear to faith. Just as Moses and the Israelites became trapped between Pharaoh’s rushing armies and the uncrossable Red Sea, so are we sometimes overwhelmed by life’s problems.

In The Red Sea Rules, readers will learn strategies to:

  • Realize that God means for you to be where you are
  • Acknowledge your enemy, but keep your eyes on the Lord
  • Stay calm and confident, and give God time to work
  • View your current crisis as a faith builder for the future

The Red Sea Rules reveals that even in the midst of seemingly impossible situations, God promises to make a way for us. His loving guidance will protect us through danger, illness, marital strife, financial problems, or whatever challenges Satan places in our path.
