“Children’s children are a crown to the aged, and parents are the pride of their children.” Proverbs 17:6
This weekend marks Grandparent’s Day – a day to celebrate grandparents and the role and bond they have in the lives of their grandchildren. Billy and Ruth Graham were the proud grandparents to 19 grandchildren. In an interview, Billy once said, “I think the greatest achievement is if all of my children and grandchildren know the Lord and they all do as far as they have reached the age of accountability.”
Today, we are sharing a special archive item in honor of the relationship between grandparents and grandchildren.
Ruth sent Will this Bible when he was pastoring a church in North Carolina in the early 2000’s. Will was doing a Wednesday night series on angels, and was looking for Gustave Doré illustrations to use on the overhead projector. Though Will was originally just looking for information, Ruth offered to send him a book he could use. Will was expecting that Ruth would send him an old picture book from which he could cut the illustrations, but – instead – he received a heavy package containing this historic Bible and the sweet inscription. (Needless to say, no cutting took place.)
The inscription reads “To Will – With a heart full of love and adoration. Tai Tai”
