Franklin Graham on his father, Billy Graham

June 21, 2020

In His Steps

When my dad was younger and in good health, he would walk down the mountain to our gate and back up, about a mile, at a blistering pace. Sometimes he would do it three times a day. In his latter years he used a walker and went a shorter distance, but he still pushed himself to walk. Following my mother’s death, his walks became reflective as he recalled the memories of how she had chosen that mountain on which to live and raise their family.

Though he was gone much of the time, my father made a profound impact on my siblings and me by his example. We looked forward to his homecomings, knowing that he would find something special for us to do together. Sometimes he would gather us up, grab his walking stick, and take us on a hike up the mountain above our home. He always made it fun. He used his walking stick to check out the ground in front of us, warning of what was ahead. He led the way, and we followed in his steps.

A Walk With My Father

I am so glad that in 1974, on my twenty-second birthday, I took a walk with my father along Lake Geneva in Lausanne, Switzerland. It became for me a pivotal walk – one that led me to do an about-face.

There was a spiritual battle raging within me that I did not completely understand until my father gently confronted me. As I walked beside him, he said, “Franklin, your mother and I sense there is a struggle going on in your life.” The truth of his words startled me. I thought I had been covering up my sin well. He said, “You’re going to have to make a choice either to accept Christ or reject Him.”

I wondered how he could know what was in my heart. But he was my father, who had prayed for me and taught me about living for Christ. However, I could not do it without acknowledging my own sin and asking for forgiveness.

With a pat on the shoulder, my father said nothing more as our walk drew to an end. But several days later, while in Jerusalem, it was the walk with my father that caused me to fall on my knees before the Father in heaven and accept His Son, Jesus Christ, as my Lord and Savior.

My father had preached to moms and dads, daughters and sons. He had invited millions to repent of their sins and accept Jesus Christ as their Savior. I am so glad my father did the work of an evangelist with his own son that afternoon in Switzerland, giving me the opportunity once and for all to turn from a life of sin to Jesus Christ and walk in His steps.

Thx for that testimonial. As a grandmother I pray for my 20 yr old grandson without a purpose right now to fall on his face, confess his sins and accept Jesus as his Lord & Savior as you did. I ask for your prayers and God’s mercy that he will.

    • Carol Smith

What a wonderful way to let his son know that is path was a bad choice. Wish I could lead my kids to Christ. I won’t give up on them because God never gives up on us. Love the legacy Graham left us to hang onto after he passed.

    • Mary Pfadenhauer

Thank you for sharing this special “walk with your father.” Both you and Will were privileged to enjoy very special life changing time with a faithful man of God who brought millions the gospel of Jesus Christ. His humility has helped your lives too, to give all the glory to Jesus Christ and God the Father. May God continue to bless you, in order to bless others.

Thank you for sharing your story. I remember your father’s evangelistic messages and the MANY people who turned to Christ as a result of his compelling messages and invitations.
Thanks for following in his footsteps…and His footsteps also.
    Blessings in Christ,

It’s always meaningful and refreshing to read how God draws His people into truly converted and transformed creations, preparing them to be servants for His use. How true for Franklin!

  3. Sandra Fischer

What a sweet sharing of how two fathers – one on earth and One in heaven – loved you and drew you to know their heart for you and to have a forever relationship with both.

  4. Randy Ferguson

There is no man that I respect more than Billy Graham and my Dad, Rev. D. F. Ferguson. I love the whole Graham family. My wife and I visited the Graham Library a few years ago. We spent three days there and it was worth every moment. Franklin Graham and Anne Graham Lotz has preached at our church in California a number of times. Our Pastor, Greg Laurie and Franklin are good friends. My favorite author/speaker is Anne Graham Lotz. If you have never read her books, begin with Just Give Me Jesus. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

I loved this story of how Franklin Graham was moved by his profound yet simple words. As I worry about my own children and what to tell them as adults I will ponder on these words of wisdom by Billy Graham, inspired by the Holy Spirit. Alice

Praise God that your dad loved the lord, & listened to God, & followed God, & obeyed God, and shared with you on your walk together that day. For your dad loved you enough to be open with you. All through my childhood I watched Billy Graham on tv & thank God for all your dad has done around the world. I also thank you for having a deep love & concern as your dad did for the spiritual well being of all people, & I thank God for your son Will as well, I love the Lord & my heart is also burdened for those who do not want anything to do with God. My prayer is that God would continue to greatly bless your ministry & those who hear His message through you. I pray that God would soften hearts & open eyes toHis great love & receive Him. Gail

  7. Judith Elson

Franklin, your father would be so very proud of you and what you have accomplished serving the Lord. Thank you for everything you do and for backing our President Trump – he so needs all of our prayers to get through the many problems in our country.

  8. Bless your heart, Franklin. I can’t imagine the pressure of growing up in the shadow of your father at that particular time in our history! I listened to your father each time I entered by momma’s daddy’s house. He had your dad playing all the time, it seemed. He did good-servant work to change the lives of many; and he made quite the life impression on me–later in life, looking back, than I would have liked. Saints encourage new saints….and on it goes. Please pray for the saints-to-be in my own family who I pray each day to encourage to make the right choice. Time is not long, I don’t believe. “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.”

  9. Anna Krawczak

God bless you, Dr. Billy Graham! I was just reading your beautiful book, Billy Graham God’s Ambassador by Time-Life Magazine. What a beautiful legacy and a life-long journey with the Lord Jesus Christ that light up the world. John 14:6, Jesus said “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” changed my life when I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior at 9. God bless you, Brother Franklin with BGEA and Samaritan’s Purse. We are blessed to be your partner of the Gospel (Mark 16:15-20, Romans 1:16 and Matthew 28:1-20). Anna K.

  10. Barbara

I grew up listening to your father as my own family would gather around our small black and white Tv to watch & listen as many others did to hear the gospel message brought by Dr.Billy Graham. Those messages impacted my parents greatly & in turn they raised us 3 children to a life of serving Jesus Christ. I still study my Billy Graham study bible & gave away many to others so they could have a better understanding of God’s word.

  11. Jeannie

I loved hearing this story about Franklin and his dad. Praise God for all of Billy’s children and grandchildren who preach the gospel one way or another. I admire the great work Franklin is doing and his gentle but bold spirit to proclaim the name of Jesus whenever he’s on TV. May we all be more zealous about sharing our story and invite others to receive Jesus as their savior.

  12. Peter and Sylvia Pifer

I have loved you and your father for many years. I am a great grandmother. I am very proud of you and my own big family who all serve God. Press on. Lead on!

  13. Norma Vannoy

A beautiful story!! Rev. Billy Graham was God’s Messenger to me that brought me to repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ in 1970. .While watching one of his televised crusades, he asked the question: if you should die tonight, do you know for certain that you would go to heaven? My answer there in my living room was, no. But his question took me on a search for that assurance. I soon discovered that I was religious, but lost.. But, praise God, 2 months later I became convicted that I was a a lost sinner (although a good church member); and I fell on my knees in my living room and was born again. I thank Dr. Graham, and I’ve been praising God ever since!

  14. Annie Schiller

Thank you for sharing. What a beautiful remembrance of your father. Good reminder as a parent too how very important a walk spent together can be. It could be the very thing God uses.

  15. Patricia Cloose

Billy Graham led my husband to the Lord via television when he was so ill and was hungry for God. My husband, Elwin, was baptized 2 weeks before he went to be with the Lord. I am forever thankful for your father. My grandmother was a faithful partner for years and I loved listening to his preaching when I stayed the night with grandma in the early “50’s”.

  16. Barbara Ferguson

I was saved at a Billy Graham Crusade in 1952 in Albuquerque, and have followed the BGEA ever since. Read your “Rebel with a Cause” years ago, and have been excitedly following how God has been using you, your sister, and your son. So proud of you all, and praise God for how He is using your dedicated lives for His glory. May God continue to bless and use you as you point people to Him. Thank you for the Decision magazine which helps me know where you are ministering and how to pray for you.

  17. Donna Carter

Dear Franklin…I thank the precious Spirit of our living Savior that touched your heart to conviction. I’m praising Him that you responded to believe Him and receive your Living, loving, Savior! We all know now that God sure had many special, eternally important tasks for you! Also thank you for founding Samaritans Purse, a fantastic outreach ministry to the physically, emotionally hurt people who have suffered shock and loss in disasters. A great much needed ministry! May our dear Lord keep you and those you love safe, healthy and in His peace that the world cannot understand, but those in His eternal family do! See you in heaven!

  18. Jim Imler

I was 16 at home alone on a Saturday night watching Billy on television. He lead me to accept Jesus as my personal savior that night. I am now almost 70. I loved Billy and I love you Franklin. Thank you for all you’ve done.

  19. Bob Skilton

We must all make that eternal choice during this life. We are deeply blessed when God places us with a family that lives as Joshua, “But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” 24:15

  20. Susan K. David

Mr. Graham, My loving mom loved and showed me everyday what Jesus was in her life, and being adopted I so wanted to be like her. And like you there was a battle raging in my heart that I did not fully understand but one Sunday when I was 10 years old I gave my life and heart to Jesus. I am now 78 and have had many falls but I always knew the way home. He never let go of me and I praise His name for that love. Thanks for sharing your experience, as your dad was on our radio and tv and your father showed us His example always!

  21. I grew up in Maggie Valley, NC. We only received one tv channel. When I was a young person, I remember sitting alone in the living room watching different Billy Graham crusades. I would weep every time people would stand all over the huge gatherings and walk forward to give their lives into God’s care, turning away from ways of sin and unbelief, and accepting Jesus as Savior. I was not born again until I was 24 years old. I never forgot how I felt watching people be born again.

  22. Anne Freeman

I love to hear how Billy Graham has touched peoples lives. He touched my life too. Even though I had attended church all my life I was not a Christian. In 1980 at the age of 26 he lead me to the Lord after I read his book “How to be Born Again”. I now have many of his books and each one has inspired me through the years.

  23. Harold Zimmer

I believe the best advise was what Billy Graham said to Franklin: He said, “You’re going to have to make a choice either to accept Christ or reject Him.” This applies to those who are lost and confused. This was truly heart felt and I’m glad it was shared.

    • Cheryl Dart

Thank you so much for sharing your personal life with your father. We all can use a refreshing with the LORD. Life can get us all down when we take our eyes off the One who died for us.

  24. In 1968 I attended Florida College in Temple Terrace, FL. I did not know it at the time that is was the very campus Billy Graham had been to and where he committed his life to serve Jesus, It was known as Florida Bible Institute and I was not a Christian and had no interest in becoming one. 10 years later the truth I had been exposed to began to penetrate my hard heart and i surrendered on July 16, 1978. The hymn ” Amazing Love ” has these lyrics.. “And can it be that I should gain an interest the Savior’s love? 42 years later and I am still absolutely amazed by His love for me

  25. Billie I Reynolds

It is so wonderful that the Lord has been able to utilize Billy Graham, and then his son Franklin and now his sons, as well as the other Graham children. The world is a better place because of them.
I am 91, have attended Billy Graham meetings as well as hear him on TV, radio, et al.
I have a daughter who is a minister, one married to a minister and one who worked at World Vision for many years. My son is also in business, but loves the Lord. God is Good Indeed!

  26. Rebecca Jackson

A sincere thank you for sharing this story, concerning you and both your fathers. As a christian I value and appreciate what you, your family, and entire Franklin Graham team do for our world. May God bless your family and team and the our country during this challenging times.

  27. Janice Leonard

I’m so glad called Rev. Graham to ask Jesus into his heart and follow Him wherever He might lead. Billy Graham worked sincerely I believe by the grace of God to bring forth a harvest of souls. And it had has followed down to Franklin and Will. Thank-You Father for Anne Graham Lotz who serves you as well.

    • Teri Gonzales

Thank you Lord, for the Graham Family,. Thank You God for their hearts of service, for their willingness to share the hope found in the greatest Gift, Jesus Christ.

    • Corene

Amen! Amazing God loving men you are! Thank you for all that you do! I can picture Rev. Billy Graham taking his walks with Jesus now, what a conversation they must be having! I can’t wait till Jesus comes back to get all of us, what a wonderful day that will be! Lord come quickly! Amen!❤🙇🏻‍♀️

  28. Bonnie Smart

Thanks for the inspiration I rec’d from the story of you and your father. I continue to watch each week the life changing sermons he gave years ago during his crusades. I also want to say Franklin, that your work during this time in 2020 with all the issues in our world, is so appreciated and needed. Thank you, and Thank God you continue to carry on the love for lost people and those in need.
    God Bless You and yours.

  29. Gayle Heller

Thank you for all you do for the kingdom. Your Easter sermon with Michael W. Smith in Central Park I shared with all my friends. You both touched their hearts. Love always and forever.

  30. Norma Ricci

Great story and very encouraging to me and it has inspired me to have the same talk with our youngest son. We provided the foundation of faith to our sons. Now he seems to be content sustaining himself. He doesn’t read the Bible nor attend church unless he’s visiting us and we invite him. He’s very responsible,‘intelligent, great job, very nice friends but I don’t think he is actively pursuing the Lord. I’m encouraged by the way your Father, a great godly man, approached you. Praise the Lord for continuing in your Father’s legacy.

  31. Marsha Graves

I really was blessed to read Franklin’s remembrance of the walk with his father when he confronted his son with his sin and his need of turning to Christ as Savior.

  32. Jack Moskovita

Great article as usual. I’ve followed Billy Graham since the early 50’s (yes the B&W TV days) and all through the years! Now I follow his sons. My time is coming soon when I leave this troubled world.

  33. Diane Titter

I grew up knowing of Billy Graham and his ministry , because my Grandma Helen Olmsted was a devoted follower of Jesus and she Loved Billy Graham. We always heard him speaking on a TV special or she would just talk of him 😊❤️Her favorite Psalm was Psalm 91

  34. Bobbi Jo Coville

This is an amazing story, and I see everyday the miracles of my father In Heaven speaking to me thru various things,

    Thank you for sharing.

    God Bless You

  35. Margaret Hejmanowski

Couldn’t have heard a better story at this time. Whenever I read stories like this from the Graham family, I cry every time. Thank you for everything!!!

  36. Gwen Spring

I have always loved your family and the spiritual effect you have made in the world. I first heard Mr Billy on a radio in the 1950’s. I was a small child, but asked who that was on the radio. My MaMa, who was the wife of a Baptist minister, suggested I sit with her and listen; that he was a new evangelist that was wonderful. I have all his books and told my mom that I thought when I got to heaven, that Billy Graham would be sitting beside Jesus Christ. God Bless all of you.

  37. Samuel Branch

Franklin, the legacy of your Father lives on through you and yours. What a blessing you are to our lost and dying world. May God continue to favor you as we walk the narrow road to salvation. To God Be The Glory.

  38. Jessie

My life has been impacted by Billy Graham since 1943-45 when, as a teenager, I heard him preach In Orchestra Hall, for Chicagoland Youth for Christ. Now many years later, after serving the Lord for 40 years in Africa, it is my privilege to Volunteer at the Billy Graham Library. I praise God that He has permitted Billy’s mantle to fall on Franklin and Will and that He continues to bless BGEA and Samaritan’s Purse. To God be the Glory!

  39. Karen Rehm

    Dear BGE,
Thank you for sharing this story.
I had the privilege of reading Franklin story of coming to Christ and his book uncommon freedom.
Franklin came to our home town of Escondido California three years ago and I was able to have him sign his book.
He also gave me the newest book about his father’s life. He signed both books and had a personal message for Steve on staff to share with me about how touched he was to see my notes in his book.
That was an answer to prayer and a dream come true.
    Blessings,
    Karen Rehm

We were living is St. Albans, Vermont in 1964 where Bob was editor of the “St. Albans daily Messenger” newspaper. I started attending the Christian & Missionary church & some ladies from the church came to our home where I accepted the Lord as my savior. A few days later I went to a church meeting in the evening so Bob babysat our 3 kids. While he was watching tv he accepted the Lord through The BGEA. Bob was called into the ministry in the Wesleyan Church were we served in Mass., & New York. In Feb 1993 He had a heart attack & went to be with Lord at the age of 53. The Lord has blessed me with a great family & mama friends. I pray for BGEA daily–God bless you🙏

  41. Mary Raley

I remember when my own son was struggling with that decision as well. I am so thankful all three of our children made that decision and we will all be able to reunite with their father in Heaven.

  42. Gary E. Irvin

I too have been struggling all my life with this same choice. I make no excuses for my sins. At some point in life we must accept responsibility for our choices, hopefully sooner rather than later. I am still a work in progress, but with my Savior Jesus’s help I will get there! Franklin, your father Rev. Graham was surely a disciple ordained by God to spread the good news, that Jesus is the Christ the Son of God!

  43. Carol Breed

Having worked along with my husband on the mission field of Kenya, Madagascar and Afghanistan through the guidance and the Lord’s direction of World Medical Mission, I have a heartfelt privilege to have served in this way. Whatever touches the ministry of BGEA, Samaritan Purse, World Medical Mission, I am committed to pray when something is sent my way.

Thank you for all that the good Lord has given to you to give to so many others.

  44. Virginia Holley

    Dear Franklin Graham,
Thank you and your family for sharing your father with the world, and now following in his footsteps! I know how proud your father and mother would be of you and your siblings as they follow the LORD and continue the work that he started!
May the LORD bless the work of your hands!

  45. Miriam Byrd

This is a personal story which has a great impact on those reading about it. We have made or now need to make this decision to accept Christ into our lives.

  46. Phillip Hardy

Thank You for this story. It made me realize that I need to have the same walk and talk with my son. Praise God for you and your father. Thank you for all you do.

  47. Sharon gray

I am so thankful that you chose to follow Christ Jesus as Savior. I am also thankful you chose to do the work you do. Thanking the Father God for directing you.

  48. Luci James

That’s so amazing. Thank you for sharing. I lost my earthly father when I was six years old, but I remember the times he spent with me and my brother and sister. I was blessed with awesome grandparents. They raised me, cause mom was still young and needed help. I was the baby. Thank the Lord for God fearing folks like I had. I was saved when I was twelve. I was listening to Rev. Graham and made the choice.

  49. larry spach

Praise God for the ministry of BGEA. My dad was saved listening to the Hour of Decision in the early 50’s. The life of our family has never been the same since Jesus came in to him, his children and their children. Pray and support you as long as we live.

  50. EstherDavis Briscoe

Your testimony was a blessing, happy you decided to follow the Lord you did not harden you heart but you repent of your sins and started walking with God. I know your dad must have been proud.

  51. Dolores Jenkins Robinson

Dear Brother Franklin, I’m so grateful you followed in your Father’s footsteps! Thank you for all those you lead to our Savior Jesus Christ !!! My prayers are with y’all !!! Keep up the good work.

  52. Victoria Thibodeaux

This was very encouraging for my life. I have a prodigal in my own home right now that I’m praying for. Trying to separate worry and worship in my heart, I’m saturating my life in the Lord’s teachings. I realize there nothing I can do, but love my daughter and not to get in the way of God’s work. As difficult as this can be, because I find myself leaning on my own understanding and wanting to it this way or that. This is the most difficult path as I cry everyday, but I’m also worshiping and talking to God everyday too; my Strength, my Lord, my Healer, my Saviour and best friend

  53. Eydie S

I want to read Franklin’s book Rebel With a Cause again, it is very moving. I remember so many stories in it, but definitely need to go back & read it again about Franklin’s work with nuns in a foreign country, what they taught him, he learned about “God room”, the time Ruth locked him in the trunk! Franklin was very honest about how he was lost and then was found. Very good book. I’m grateful our parents sat us down in front of the tv to watch Billy Graham, and in his last years continued his support of BGEA & Samaritan’s Purse. Much love to the Graham family & for leading so many to Jesus Thank you!

  54. Debbie Nemcovich

Thank you for sharing that experience with us. It brought me to tears for a moment. I too so appreciate Billy Graham and his family who have brought the message of Jesus to us all.

  55. Kathy D Swaringen

I love the work the Grahams have done over the years. Y’all are an inspiration. Thank you. The older I get, the more I understand, Love you all.

  56. Norma Morgan

I love the Billy Graham Association and all it stands for. Doing God’s work here on earth has always been and always will be their mission. They are a LIGHT in these very scary times we find ourselves living in today. Blessings and love.

  57. So very inspiring to this mother and grama! Thank you so much for not only this article, but all the work in His name😍. For many years I’ve used the daily reading guide from Samaritan’s Purse; I love how it’s kept me on track👍🏻

  58. Ramona Faith

Very moving account of your relationship with your father. I am very moved by Rev Graham’s choice of words and approach – loving concern, simplistic directness with a measure of respect so the decision would be rightfully yours. Amen. I wish the world were full of dads like Billy Graham.

  59. Thomas Scholtens

What a moving testimony of the path to salvation in your life. And what a life-long legacy passed on to you by your earthly father—to bring honor and glory to our amazing and faithful Heavenly Father. God is good—

  60. Janet hernandez

HI I just read your email note. Really nice and sweet. I wanted to mention I am reading one of your dad’s books. “Just As I Am”. I borrowed this book from the library. Thank you.

  61. Ruth Harms

Your testimony and life are very inspirational. Helps us to see it is Christ who does the work, but we have the opportunity to either let Him or choose our own way. Your family have helped me to make my decision count for more than just salvation and to keep on letting Him speak His Word in my life. Thanks for your testimony and inspiration!

    • Kathy Hendrickson Curtis

How I love this story. My father was a Navy test pilot who died testing a jet in 1952. I was 11 months old, the youngest of four children. I often imagine my life with him in it. Walking with our Heavenly Father every day, I Know what that kind of love is. He guides me, guards my heart, and gently corrects my path. Thank you Franklin. Peace be with you and your family.

  62. Diane Morse

I have always loved the Graham family. I took my mom to a retreat with Anne Graham Lotz many years ago and I’m sure it strengthened both of our Christian Faith. I had noted the occasion and Anne spoke about the importance of reading the Bible. I do this daily and it is my passion!

  63. Paula Mae Philpott

Thank you for sharing how your Father helped you accept Christ!
Your Father was a spiritual leader that I have admired. He was true to the Lord!

  64. Laura Doerr

How great is our Lord, and the faithfulness of a father and a mother’s love and prayers for their children brings forth great promises from God. May God answer mine.

  65. Linda Bishop

I am so glad that you made that choice. You have been such a positive influence on my Christian walk. I am happy to be a part of your ministry through prayer and giving.

  66. TONI J TERRY

It’s such a blessing to hear your story of salvation! Your father was an amazing Evangelist. Now you are the spirit filled Evangelist!
I look at our country being destroyed and my heart breaks.

Thank you sending this message of hope!

  67. Anne Walliser

this is so wonderful, as it shows a person doesn’t need to be pushed hard or badgered. The Holy Spirit gives us the words to say and does the drawing to Himself! Praise God that Franklin Graham is a believer and is doing so much good in this world.

  68. Marion Hyder

I remember asking Jesus into my heart when I was about 12. At a youth meeting at church, you had the opportunity every week to go up to the railing at church to ask Jesus to come into your heart.
Finally, one Sunday evening when that alter call was made, I went up and accepted Jesus as my Savior. I was so excited that I ran all they way home to tell my Mom. 65 years later I am still excited!

  69. Eleanor Benjamin

As a mother of 5 grown up children whom I have raised in the holy fear and admonition of the Lord, my steadfast hope is for them to have the “pivotal” moment with Christ and reaffirm and rededicate their lives to Christ.

  70. winnie castleman

I praise God for leadership that He has given this family to glorify His name and proclaim the gospel for years and years to come. A great witness all over the world for our Lord and Savior. I enjoy reading about what all God has done in their lives. We all have stories to share, in His name. Join in and continue to pray for such great ministry God has blessed this nation with.

  71. Carol Taylor

It was such a heart warming story ,made me cry. Your dad and you make a tremendous difference in the lives of so many, especially at this time with world in such a situation.

  72. marrietta schug

Growing up as a child of 9 children. My parents made sure we all
watched Billy Graham on our old fuzzy black and white television.
It was during those early tv specials that I was reborn into the life
of my Savior, Jesus Christ. I was so blessed by those sermons
and watching as people came to the front to that wonderful song,
“Just As I Am”. So unbelievably blessed.

  73. Jeanine Mowery

Warmed my heart to read about your ‘walk’ with your dad that lead you to Our Father

Thank God for that moment in time. If it not have been so we’d be without your testimony & ordained ministry

  74. Robin Wheeler

Thank you for sharing this beautiful story. Having prayed for salvation for certain family members for many, many years, including lately for some “prodigal” grandchildren, it is a great encouragement to hear your story of salvation.

  75. Pamela Cook

Thank you for all you do. The Billy Graham ministry has been a staple in our family for decades. We appreciate all you do for humanity in the name of Jesus Christ.

  76. Robert Dykema

At the age of 76 now I can still remember being glued to the TV watching your father preach to large audiences when I was in my early teens. I was very moved by his sermons and also felt very close to the Holy Spirit while listening to him preach and watching all of the people file up to the stage to receive Christ as their Savior. I was saved while at a Bible Camp in Wisconsin called Camp Shagbark. Not sure it is still there today. I have also visited the Cove and found it very inspirational. I thank God you (Franklin) decided to accept Jesus. I love your ministry, Samaritan’s Purse. I will be praying for all of your efforts. God’s Best, Bob

My Grandmother introduced me to Billy Graham’s sermons when I was a young girl. She lived to be 102; I am now in my seventies & still listen to his & now Franklin’s sermons. I can’t thank you enough for what those words have meant to me over the years! May God always bless you for your work to His kingdom.

Love it….that is how one who TRULY TRUSTS the Lord Jesus Christ does it….nothing more needed to be said.

Glad you had “that walk” engineered by God that day…He knew.
the plan He had for you…..All glory to Him!!!

How important Godly parents are! Pray for those children, and help them when you can, who do not have Godly parents. And pray for their parents. We do need revival in America.

I enjoyed going through the spiritual biography of Franklin Graham. The conversion steps seem normal, but that was the process God followed to call him to faith, fellowship and service. I gave my life to Christ in high school in 1971 in Warri, Nigeria, and have served the Lord in various capacities since then but I feel encouraged and inspired reading about Franklin, walking in the footsteps of his father, who was one of my mentors through his Decision magazine, his biography and other materials. Thanks be to God for not leaving us without a son in the likeness of his father, who walks closely with the Master.

    Beautiful testimony!
I recall as a Jewish child being in the elementary school choir and our being invited to sing at your father’s preaching event at the Hollywood Bowl. I went, since my family was not very observant, did not understand what was going on, but I learned to sing “God of our Father’s whose Almighty Stand”. That stuck with me over all these years. Now I have been a born again believer for just over 50 years and attribute it in great part to the prayers over all of we young participants in those early days. You never know when fruit will result and with whom it will bloom. Praise God for the Billy Graham ministry and for you Franklin, who is carrying it on. God bless you and your family and ministry. I will always be thankful
