Franklin and Bessie’s Picks—November 2021

November 12, 2021

This November at Ruth’s Attic Bookstore, we’re featuring books picked by Franklin Graham and Bessie the Cow.

Each month, Franklin picks a book based on its inspirational message, while Bessie picks a book for children to enjoy.

Franklin’s Pick:  HOPE by Dr. David Jeremiah

For many people, worry, anxiety, and fear are constant companions: fear of death, fear of danger, fear of disease. In today’s unpredictable and contentious world, who can blame us?

All too often, these fears are crippling, keeping us from the life God has called us to live. Is there any hope amidst all this darkness?

There is. As Christians, we have been given all we need in order to face down even the most frightening, unexpected, and overwhelming obstacles in life. In Hope, Dr. David Jeremiah explores the top seven fears that are holding so many of us back from the life God has called us to live and shares secrets for facing down these fears with hope in God. With each page, you’ll grow in your conviction that God is the answer you’ve been looking for: as you look to the future, you’ll begin to see nothing except his power and love guarding your every step.

Step into the truth and start living the fearless life God created you to enjoy.

Bessie’s Pick: Corrie ten Boom: The Courageous Woman and The Secret Room (Do Great Things for God) by Laura Caputo-Wickham

Inspiring children’s biography of Corrie ten Boom, who saved hundreds of Jews during World War 2.

In 1940, the Germans invaded the Netherlands, and Corrie ten Boom and her family helped to hide as many Jews as possible. They even had a secret room built in her bedroom.

Corrie and her sister were caught by the German army and sent to a concentration camp, where God made sure they always had a Bible to read and plenty of opportunities to share the good news about Jesus.

Corrie’s trust in God gave her the strength to go on until the war ended. From then on, Corrie talked about her life to big crowds, saying, there’s no pit so deep that Gods love is not deeper still.

Children will enjoy this beautifully illustrated children’s biography of Corrie ten Boom, who saved hundreds of Jews during World War 2.
