Archive Insider: Honolulu Police “Honorary Assistant Chief” Badge

January 9, 2021

Throughout 2021, we’ll be honoring our local heroes by showcasing items given to Billy Graham by law enforcement, fire, and military personnel throughout the course of his ministry.

Billy Graham always had a high respect for those in law enforcement. He recognized that their efforts were vital to public safety and the safety of all attendees at his Crusades.

In 1965, Billy Graham held Crusade events on four of Hawaii’s main islands, spending a full week in its capital of Honolulu. During the Crusade in Honolulu, more than 65,000 people attended and heard the Gospel.

This month’s archives feature is an “Honorary Assistant Chief” police badge presented to Billy Graham by the Honolulu police during that Crusade.

The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association continues to honor and collaborate with our law enforcement officials. The Billy Graham Rapid Response Team recently announced an expansion of law enforcement ministry efforts.
