What a blessing it is to be a parent. The days might seem long but the years often go by so quickly. Before long, the little ones we raise are out of the house and raising their own. Children are a wonderful blessing from God. However, the responsibility of being a parent can often seem like an overwhelming role. The Bible gives great insight into how we ought to parent.
Read 5 Things the Bible says about parenting:
Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.
Proverbs 22:6 (ESV)
Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
Ephesians 6:4 (ESV)
3 Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,
the fruit of the womb a reward. 4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior
are the children of one’s youth. 5 Blessed is the man
who fills his quiver with them!
He shall not be put to shame
when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.
Psalm 127:3-5 (ESV)
Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.
1 Thessalonians 4:3 (ESV)
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
