Christmas is a special time of year at the Billy Graham Library.

Each December, thousands of people visit the Library to celebrate Christmas and reflect on the hope found in Jesus Christ. From the glow of Christmas lights and the live Nativity, to carriage rides and other special activities, Christmas at the Library offers guests an opportunity to enjoy the season while learning more about the life and ministry of Billy Graham.

Serving With a Purpose

Christmas at the Library would not be possible without the many volunteers who give their time to welcome guests and help create a memorable experience. For many, serving at Christmas is about more than simply filling a position—it is an opportunity to use their time and gifts to bless others during a season when families and friends gather together.

Christmas Volunteer Opportunities

  • Live Nativity Scene Participant: Help bring the Christmas story to life by serving as a live Nativity actor. No script or dialogue is required.
  • Children’s Story Time: Read Christmas stories to children and help create a fun, welcoming experience for families.
  • Carriage Ride Assistant: Help guests gather their groups, manage tickets and lines, and assist with boarding and exiting the carriages.
  • Photo Assistant: Help guests capture memories during their carriage ride or in front of the Library’s Christmas tree.
  • Guest Services Assistant: Welcome guests and assist with a variety of needs throughout the evening.
  • Shuttle Stop Host: Help guests safely board and exit shuttles traveling to and from the Library.
  • Bookstore and Dairy Bar Assistant: Greet guests, restock items, serve food and drinks, and assist with general duties.
  • Food Services Assistant: Help serve meals to staff and volunteers and assist with food service and cleanup.
  • Christmas Dinner Greeter: Welcome guests arriving for Christmas dinner at Billy Graham Evangelistic Association headquarters.

Serve During Christmas at the Library

Christmas volunteers must be at least 13 years old and available to serve two or more shifts. Volunteers are needed Dec. 1–23. Evening shifts are Monday through Thursday from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. Each shift includes a break. An adult Christmas volunteer must serve with every youth volunteer ages 13–15.

Volunteers receive a long-sleeved Library volunteer shirt and discounts at Ruth’s Attic bookstore and the Graham Brothers Dairy Bar. Most importantly, they have the opportunity to serve alongside others and help welcome thousands of guests during this special season.

If you have a heart for serving others and sharing the love of Jesus, consider joining the Christmas at the Library volunteer team this year. Learn more about volunteering at Christmas at the Library.
