5 Verses on Hope Found in Jesus Christ

March 23, 2016

“For the believer there is hope beyond the grave, because Jesus Christ has opened the door to heaven for us by His death and resurrection.” -Billy Graham

“Easter always brings hope to all of us. For the Christian, the Cross tells us that God understands our suffering, for He took upon Himself at the Cross all of our sins and all of our failures and all of our sufferings. Our Lord, on that cross, asked the question, “Why?” “My God, my God, why hast Thou forsaken me?”  And he received his answer, he knew.  To redeem the world, to save you and me from our sins, to give us assurance that if we died we’re going to heaven. He was saying from the cross, I love you and I know the heartaches and the sorrows and the pain that you feel.

Easter points us beyond the tragedy of the Cross to the hope of the empty tomb. It tells us that there is hope for eternal life for Christ has conquered death. It also tells us that God has triumphed over evil and death and hell. This is our hope and it can be your hope as well.”

Hope is found in the promises God has given us – promises of freedom from sin. We can find so much hope in Scripture through the gift of eternal life made possible through His son, Jesus Christ. No matter what trials, temptations or pain we may suffer, we can always hold onto the hope God extends to us.

Here are five verses that demonstrate the hope we can find in Jesus Christ.

1 John 5:13-14

I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life. And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us.

1 Peter 1:3-6

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 2:8-10

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

2 Corinthians 4:16-18

So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.

John 4:13-14

Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again, The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

We can never have too much truth in a world where lies are the normal. Our own government lies to us, pastors are being called out by the media for their deception, even our employers lie by make false promises, we often lie to ourselves. If it were not for the word of God, truly all hope and truth, would be lost in generation after generation Thank you for publishing truth, God’s word pure, undulited, unfiltered and powerful, apologizing to no one.

So greatful for the hope I have in Christ. I am always excited the share that hope with anyone I come in contact with as I walk this Christian journey. I have been listening to Billy Graham since I was a little girl when my mother made us watch even when we didn’t understand. My mother is 99 and still shares her faith every day. Thank you Billy Graham! God Bless You!

Knowing the hope of every believer tells us that of the reward of trusting in the Lord. First it was grace appearing, and now awaiting the appearance of His glory. What a wonderful promise. To Him be all glory forever more.

Jesus calls us individually to choose the narrow way to posterity in Him; carry our burdens in our own cross and follow Him through the trials and tribulations of this worldly life while being certain of the providence in Jesus; the veritable Rock of Refuge

Isaiah 43:2 is especially pertinent. We can walk through fire and not be burnt; be overwhelmed by the waters of the seas and yet not drown for Jesus walks with the believer through it all.

As I was reading these scriptures on Hope, I continued down the page and noticed the comments and began praying for each of you that posted. As I was praying for you Juliana, I was thinking about your Son, Aaron. I pray he is safe and that he will return home, if he hasn’t already. I pray for you to have peace during this time.

Lord Jesus Christ gives hope to every one. If I accept Lord Jesus Christ as my Savior, He is important for every one. God loves us. Son of God died for me, and He rose from the dead. He is coming soon, His second coming is important for me. Amen.

Through this sermon I am really blessed, and I am going to witness this to my near and dear so that they may also be blessed like me. And more over may every one be blessed.

I’m saved and I believe in Jesus as the Son of God, dying on the cross for my sins. I’m divorced, living with a christian man who also believes. Will we go to heaven living in sin not being married?

Hello, I fell Tuesday morning down my deck stairs taking out garbage. I shattered a bone in my ankle with several spiral fractures. I had surgery on Friday. I am the main provider for our house as my husband had a cut in hours at work in August. I will be off of work 6-8 weeks. Our church is amazing in bringing us meals and prayer. I would like encouragement emails and prayer please during this time of recovery.

    • Hi Erica,

I pray that God will provide all of your needs according to HIS riches in glory in Jesus name. And I join you in asking for complete and total healing and a quick recovery! Our hope in the resurrection affords us the confidence that He is able to do all things! Thanking God for your life. God bless you

I believe as a Christian that there is a Heaven. To hope there is a Heaven and say you are a Christian to me is not believing in God’s promises or at least being unsure of them. Am I wrong?

I am saved by the blood of Jesus Christ. I am thankful to God our Lord for His ever unfailing promise to those who believe in Him, that is eternal life. This is the reason that every true believer rejoices and have that very HOPE from strength to strength

I am blessed by the Word of God. No where in this world we can find hope. Only in God. So brethren let us put our trust and believe in God. There is hope even if we encounter difficulties. Let us hope so only in Christ. May God bless His Word may God bless us.

  15. Ralph Epperson

I am 74 years old and went astray many many years ago, but now I’ve realized my Christian walk was not true, and now I want God’s Word The Gospel, which I am now reading daily. My spirit is responding to the Word, at my age my mind is not as sharp as when I was at a younger age, but I feel that God’s Word is what I’ve been missing for years. How does God feel about older people that lived most their life in the flesh and now want to live in the spirit?

  16. Sanath Peiris

Dear Brethren, Please send me the updates on what happened between Jesus Christ Crucifixion and resurrection. In a recently made Sermon by a Priest, he told that Jesus first descended to the “Hell” because Jesus Christ took our sin on the cross and died. Please help me as I believe Jesus Christ didn’t go to the Hell, because of our sin. Thank you. Sanath Peiris

Ayyyyymen! Our hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness: I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus’ name.
On Christ, the solid rock, I stand
all other ground is sinking sand
all other ground is sinking sand.
God’s promises of hope in Him bears promise of the things not seen in this world. God will cross the finish line with whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
He is the author and finisher of our faith………..
A brother in Christ, Lee Price.
