Categories: Billy Graham

From May 2-June 30, guests to the Billy Graham Library will have the opportunity to see a special display called “The Power of Christ in the Home.” Through the display featured in the Journey of Faith, visitors can gain insights and timeless truth from what the Bible says about parenting, including an intimate look into Billy and Ruth Graham’s Christ-centered home and see personal memorabilia, a family Bible, rare photographs and more. Each week we will also feature a special insight from Billy or Ruth about making Christ the center of your home.

Accepting Others Into Your Home

A home is a place for a family to rest together with the Lord, but it is also a place to invite others in and minister to them. What better way to exemplify God’s hospitality and love than by opening your home to your neighbors, friends and family? This could be difficult, especially when inviting those with whom you have trying relationships, but if you have the power of Christ in your home unbelievable things can happen.

Trust in God’s plan and make Him the center of your home. If you ask Him to use you, your spouse and your family to reach the lost and hurting world through hospitality according to His will, then He will. It is our job to be vessels for the Lord, spreading the good news of Jesus Christ to everyone.

When Billy Graham was asked how to handle difficult family, he gave an answer that can be applied to many situations.

“God loves them just as much as He loves you, and He ‘is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine’ (Ephesians 3:20) … Do all you can to reach out to them—not in an overbearing way, but simply to let them know you care for them and value them as part of your family. Encourage them also to put Christ at the center of their [home]. May this also be a time of recommitment on your part—to each other, and most of all to Jesus Christ.”

Whether or not you will open up your home to in-laws, colleagues or neighbors does not change the fact that you should always pray for them and care for them. Try opening up your home to someone new this month, and show them God’s accepting and genuine love.
