As we continue reading through the Bible, this month we finish through the book of Deuteronomy and the death of Moses, go completely through Joshua – with the advent of a new generation of Israelites that is delivered into the promised land; Judges – a time after Joshua’s death when the people of Israel fell back in to the moral and spiritual ruin that led them wandering into the desert for 40 years with Moses; and into 1 Samuel where we see Israel not only divided but turned from a theocratic nation to a monarchy ruled by first Saul then David.
You’ll note that this is where our reading plan diverts from the order the books are placed in the Bible as it follows the order it is estimated that they were written.
Don’t worry if you’re behind – there’s no better time than today to start reading the Bible. If you don’t have a Bible, you can read online at www.bible.com. And if you want to go back and catch up you can find the reading lists for January and February here.
