Ruth Bell Graham’s Mountain Pie Recipe

Ruth Bell Graham with daughter Gigi, cooking together in their kitchen

Taste and see that the Lord is good;” Psalm 34:8

With the recent request for social distancing, we’re seeing families spending more time at home. One benefit to that is more opportunities for time in the kitchen, trying out new recipes.

We recently acquired recipes Ruth Bell Graham used in her kitchen. Today, we’re sharing the recipe for Mrs. Graham’s Mountain Pie. Similar to a dump cake, this simple recipe takes just a few minutes to put together and serves well warm. It is delicious topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

Let us know if you make it – share photos of your Mountain Pie on social media and tag us!

Loved all of the recipes and would love to purchase the book.

Also I am always inspired with Franklin’s words. Everyone needs to hear him and understand how important and critical at this day and time especially.

Words that cause me to pause and realize How important our prayer time and time in the Bible is everyday.

Thank you for sharing, teaching and loving us enough to care about our walk with God.. 🙏

  42. Karen M. says:

I made Mrs. Graham’s mountain pie recipe and it was absolutely amazingly delicious. I love it that was so easy and simple to make. My family really enjoyed it. I will add this to my favorite dessert recipes. Thank you for posting these recipes from Mrs. Graham…what a blessing it is to be connected to her through her love of baking and cooking. This will be a family favorite for many years!!

  43. Barbara Luningham says:

I am pretty sure the canned cherries Mrs. Graham go we’re not mostly liquid (juice) like those available now. I didn’t know whether to drain the fruit or not. I used half the liquid. The pie was tasty, a little too doughy for my palette, but, better half hubs, loved it. I will experiment with different brands and different fruits. Overall, an “8” from me, “11” 😄 from husband.

  44. Ursula calhoun says:

I made this yesterday but instead of using canned fruit, I cooked fresh blackberries with sugar and tapioca first. Thank you for this great recipe. And thank you for the saving words to bring others to Christ. Also that you stand firm against a ever increasing hostile world. Such a testimony to all believers.
