Billy Graham on Easter, the Resurrection of Jesus

March 18, 2024

When God sent His Son to earth to die on the cross, He made a way for us to be made new. Jesus bore the weight of all our sins so that we can be renewed and free. We are washed clean of the wrong we have committed, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Our heavenly Father who gave us this gift of redemption deserves all of our praise. He overcame the cross and defeated death. We serve a God so powerful and majestic that He sacrificed Himself for our renewal.

What does it mean to be “made new?” It means we are gifted the opportunity to ask for forgiveness, be wiped clean of sin and become filled with the Holy Spirit.

“No longer do men have to stumble in the fog in the darkness of hopelessness. Our light shines brighter than the new day’s son, offering hope and immortality to every man that has been born again.

Jesus had promised, ‘I am the resurrection and the life: He that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet he shall never die.’ …

The resurrected Christ lives in the heart of the believer… through the Holy Spirit, He dwells in the heart of every Christian…

This is a mystery that is beyond comprehension, and yet gloriously true. When you come to Jesus Christ, you bring everything you have. Your body with all its members: your faculties, your talents, your time, your money, your possessions, your will are all his. Your very face becomes the face of the resurrected Christ to show forth His beauty and glory… He wants to look on the world’s need through your eyes… Your lips immediately become an instrument for the expression of his message. It is not what you say for Him that counts, but what He says through you…

The living Christ dwells in your heart and gives you power to live the victorious life. Paul says that the same power that raised Christ from the dead is ours, to enable us to live for him.”
