Billy Graham’s Ministry to Spanish-Speaking People

September 16, 2021

Billy Graham had a heart to share the Gospel all over the world to people of all languages. He traveled all over the world to tell others about the saving love of Jesus Christ. His travels included many countries where the national language is Spanish. Below, see some of the items in the archives at the Billy Graham Library that were given to Billy Graham during his ministry.

A large silver tray engraved with “Presented to Billy Graham at the closing meeting, Thursday, March 5, 1981, Mexico City by Congreso Executive Committee.”

The Crusade in Mexico in 1981 was certainly a memorable one — and one you could see God’s amazing power at work. The organizers in Mexico City had been given permission to use the Olympic Stadium for the meetings; it seated 80,000 people. But at the last minute, permission was withdrawn by the authorities. Mr. Graham was forced instead to use a much smaller basketball arena in the center of the city, which had no parking facilities. It was damaged in the earthquake a few years before and had not been used since. The authorities assured the team it was safe. Then, to make matters worse, publicity had gone out directing people to the other stadium. Yet, somehow, word got out of the change in venue. That first night there was an overflow crowd of thousands! Two services were scheduled each day.
