Autographed Chicago Cubs Baseball

November 4, 2016

In 1971, Don Kessinger of the Chicago Cubs gave his testimony at Billy Graham’s Chicago Crusade. The team from that season signed a baseball and gave it to Billy while he was in town.

During that Crusade, Mr. Graham encouraged the crowd to stand up for Christ against the trials of this world. “Some of us Christians live as though Jesus is dead,” he said. “He’s not dead. He’s alive! You are going through your troubles and your trials and your temptations, testings, and pressures. You’re under Satanic attack all of the time, I think in many ways. In some ways, it’s easier not to be a Christian in this world, because the devil may leave you alone. The moment you receive Christ as your Savior, you’re in for it unless you live on your knees, live in the Scriptures and keep your guard up. Jesus Christ is alive!”

Today, another Chicago Cubs player is proclaiming his faith in Jesus Christ. Ben Zobrist has stood strong in his beliefs both before and after winning the 2016 World Series and being named the Most Valuable Player.

“We know that as a Christian athlete, people are watching, and so we want to be the best example we can be and show that we are different—that Christ has changed our lives.” Zobrist said in an interview with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. “I want people to know that grace is for everyone. We all need grace. We all need Christ.”
